about

At the end of the 20th century Paris was a technovillage. Its inhabitants met every weekend to celebrate life and love at great popular balls of a new kind. Open to everyone, regardless of gender, age, social or ethnic origins. Most of the time free of charge. For entire nights, massive and compact crowds danced in vast hangars, warmed by their moving bodies. Alongside abandoned production lines, they fabricated the utopia of a society that consecrated a people who danced, and who thought.
Signal Électrique (French duo composed of Erik Elektrik and Frankensound) was part of this movement which invented new musical and graphic aesthetics, and which conquered territories for the sole pleasure of bringing together artists and audiences. A whole community for whom the love of electronic sound, techno and trance was a way of life. In Europe Signal Électrique has irrigated the underground tekno scene thanks to the unconditional support of the French label Expressillon, with an intense activity from 1997 to 2009. Then the loss of irreplaceable road partners (including Frankensound) led Erik Elektrik to turn away from the scenes... Without stopping to compose. Dark city is a project born in these years of solitude, as a tribute to years of mad communion and travel. Today it is a great happiness, an honor, to see this project cross the Atlantic, from Paris to Minneapolis, via Le Havre! And it is an enormous pleasure to share the frantic energy of Signal Électrique, to see it reborn on the mother earth of this electric, groove, heavy, industrial techno music, which remains in our minds some of the best moments that life offered to us.
